Axter Head Office
Sector:
Commercial
Location:
Ipswich
Scope:
The customer wanted to create a minimal and modern design for their new head office location, incorporating their green ideals.
Project Overview:
The Design
Industrial aesthetic influences with monochromatic palette and colour choices influenced by materials of Ipswich’s industrial craftsmanship, past & present, i.e natural oak timbers from the boatyards, wool & woven textures, earthy clay terracotta tones from the potters and leather & stitch details from the leather workers.
Arrival/Welcome Space
Lounge area with shelving/lockers screening system and opportunity for a continuation of branding graphics from the ground floor.
Breakout/Lounge
A shared, open and informal space for catch ups or a simple break from the screen.
Cafe/Townhall Meetings
A vibrant setting for socialisation and informal group meetings with pockets of upholstered furniture, booth seating and a central bar to the kitchen teapoint. A large kitchen table and AV screen set up for townhall style gatherings.
Open Meeting Space
Semi enclosed large meeting space.
Open Office & Enclosed Offices
Sit/stand desking with ergonomic task chairs to ensure comfort whilst considering wellbeing.
Enclosed Meeting Rooms & Boardroom
Formal and private rooms offering either AV screens or write on walls for presentation/collaboration.
The Look
Darkened ceiling frames hold a suspended grid with integrated pendant lights and trailing plants hanging below. Soft lounge chairs with timber legs and structured sofas with loose cushions, provide a relaxing space. A speckled, light, terrazzo style vinyl floor finish gives an exposed, raw feel whilst metal framework to furniture and the suspended grid frame add an industrial aesthetic. Vertical timber slats and furniture lockers, help to divide and define the spaces and their functions.
The Result
A full office refurbishment from top to bottom with floor-to-ceiling glass partitions, varying floor coverings, bespoke wooden frame room dividers, a modern soft seating area, and a large dining table to fit in with the new kitchen area. A clever design of different areas to cater for different needs, without the feeling of being blocked in by walls or partitions,
